Inspiration for Health Obsessed Magazine
Most of my life, I have always searched up my symptoms and would panic at every little itch, bump, or weird feeling I get in my body. This anxiety has gotten in the way of my day to day routine, because I have made so many unnecessary doctor visits, and this can take up a lot of time and money. I know that there are a ton of people out there who are also obsessed with their health, and hyper focused on what’s going on with their bodies, especially after the Covid-19 Pandemic which created an army of new born hypochondriacs.

I decided to create a magazine called “The Health Obsessed.”  This is a platform and publication company dedicated to helping people distinguish whether they are simply worried about their health or have full blown health anxiety. We also are a safe space for diagnosed hypochondriacs and provide useful information and resources for people who struggle with health anxiety.  We provide quizzes and information to help people distinguish whether they are simply worried about their health normally or have health anxiety. We also have legitimate articles, news and tips coming from licensed physicians, as well as stories from people who are dealing with or have overcame their health anxieties. We recognize that it is normal to worry about your health to an extent. Yet, people who suffer with health anxiety are in a frequent state of worry whenever a potential health concern comes to light. This effects people a lot, and can hold people back from their daily lives, and we want to help in any way we can to change that. Sometimes giving out useful information is the most beneficial medication.

Four Past Magazine Issues: Health Obsessed
I decided to create four theoretical front covers for Health Obsessed, and I gave them different topics surrounding the topic of health anxiety.
Call To Action Cards and Poster
The goal of these call to action cards and poster is to promote the Health Obsessed publication website, which is why each of them include a QR code that people can quickly scan using their camera to access the website. These deliverables would be found in doctors office waiting rooms, or any medical related office.

Color Palette Decisions
The color blue is seen very often in the medical field to project a calming, tranquil environment for patients. Most doctors and nurses you see in hospitals or doctors offices will where blue or green scrubs. I decided to make this color the most prevalent in the magazine to help with the idea that this magazine is a safe space for people with health anxiety, and it’s solely here to provide guidance regarding current information on
health obsessions.

The color green creates a sense of tranquility and relaxation. It also is directly used
a lot in health care facilities to promote these feelings of safety, healing, and tranquility
for patients that visit. Green also represents growth, renewal, and life.

The reason why I the minor color is red in the color palette is because red can represent being alert, and grabbing someone’s attention in an emergency, or sudden action. People who are constantly anxious about their own health will resonate with the color red from always being alert about their health, and from possibly seeing health web pages that
may have charts showing where red means severe or something is wrong. I only wanted to include this color in minor instances in the magazine, because I want the green and
blue colors to stand out to project feelings of tranquility for people who have this
health anxiety.

Mast-Head Iterations
I had to go through many iterations before getting to my final Health obsessed mast-head that was most effective. Even once I narrowed down the iterations, I tested each logo in different directions and locations on the front cover, before choosing one.
