Objective
The objective of this project was to come up with a topic based on the prompt, "perception." Once the topic was chosen the goal was to focus on creating visually consistent work, including: a book, call to action poster, website, and motion graphic. The goal was to break down the word, "perception" as much as possible until the right concept arose. Starting with this simple definition of perception, I came up with numerous viable topics, but narrowed them down until I found the concept that interested me the most.

My Concept
After brainstorming, and breaking down the prompt, "perception,"  I ended up with the word, "fear." Fear is a very broad topic, and I wanted to narrow it down more. I came up with two opposing sides that fear encapsulates: Fear weighing us down in life, and fear building us up. My concept isn't only these two opposing sides, but also how the decision on whether or not fear will be a blessing or curse is up to the individual.

Challenges
The biggest challenge I faced throughout this project was by far, creating the book. My book was a hundred pages long, and figuring out how to design a hundred page book to be consistent is not a piece of cake. I ran into issues with creating too many visuals, and incorporating too many elements in each spread, and found myself constantly having to condense everything. The second most biggest challenge I encountered was coding the website. I'm nowhere near proficient at coding, and this was the second time I've ever used HTML/CSS.

Solutions and Successes
Incorporating too many elements to each spread of my book actually was an advantage, because I later realized that I didn't need to create new visuals, and simply needed to find ways to spread my visuals I already had throughout the entire book. Coding the website for my concept was very difficult, because I created a prototype that (for me) was a challenge to replicate with HTML/CSS. It took days and days for me to figure out how to code each section, but in the end I replicated it to the best of my abilities, and learned a lot throughout the process.

Once I decided that my concept was going to correlate to the the negatives and positives of fear, I started to brainstorm words that would best suit each of the two contrasting views of fear. This helped me figure out what kind of information to look for.

The Book of Fear
The book of fear is split up into three parts Including:
Part 1: "What is Fear & Anxiety, and How Does One Overcome It?"
Part 2: "Fear Holding US Back; Real Life Stories & Interviews"
Part 3: "Overcoming Fear & Anxiety; Real Life Stories & Interviews"
The Book is also broken up into two different view points. The pages that discuss the negative aspects of fear are very chaotic, dark and are intended to provoke feelings of anxiety, stress, or any negative feelings for emphasis on the negative effects fear can have on people's lives. These pages include, a gloomy red color that is utilized in textures, imagery, and text.
Whereas, the pages that discuss the positive aspects of fear, and overcoming fear are very simple; with bright photography, and simple graphics to provoke uplifting feelings including: confidence, joy, and strength. This is accomplished by incorporating simple graphics and imagery, less sporadic content, and a sky blue color utilized for graphics, photos and text.

Call to Action Poster
The poster is directly affiliated with the book, especially because the same photograph of the two faces are utilized. The specific call to action is to the website, which is where people can get information on the book, and/or buy the book. The setting where this poster is mocked up uses lights in the background to emphasize the positive and negative sides of fear displayed in the image on the poster.
Call To Action: Fear Website
The purpose of the website is to give insights, and promote the Book of Fear. The home page includes basic information about the book, an option to buy the book, the fear motion graphic, and displays information correlating to the first part in the Book of Fear. The Fear Holding us Back page introduces the negative side of fear that is discussed more throughly in the book. The Overcoming Fear page introduces the steps to overcome fear, that is discussed in the book as well.

FEAR; Motion Graphic
The purpose of the motion graphic was to enhance the idea that whether or not you choose to allow fear to have a negative or positive impact on your life is entirely up to you. Although the motion correlates to the Book of Fear, it wasn't meant to directly be an advertisement for the book, but more so to get people who visit the website, or read the book to clearly see and understand the premise of the overall concept.

The Fear; Motion Graphic Story board is how I planned out each part in the final motion graphic below.
